BBNaija – Passing Judgement on Cee-C

Someone asked me if Cee-C’s behaviour in the Big Brother House was right. My response to the fellow was that from where I stand I see no “Right” or “Wrong”. What I know is that behaviours could be functional or dysfunctional depending on the context.

For Cee-C, to the extent that some of her actions in the house brought her personal pains and even led to isolation by other housemates’ was a sign of dysfunctional behaviour. Let’s not forget that the natural order of society is that folks tend to live in groups. It is this natural order that stimulates our wants for friendship, relationships, family and social networks. Therefore a dysfunctional behaviour normally deviates from the natural order.

Behaviour is neither right nor wrong. I doubt if anybody has the prerogative to judge human behaviour except of course you are conferred such rights by law. Outside the Big brother house, CeeC is arguably the most talked about housemate. Her share of mind in the media is outstanding and certainly “bankable”. Her popularity would certainly get her some real goodies if extensively exploited.

Why is this so? The same behaviour that was dysfunctional in the BBNaija house is now functional outside the BBNaija house. She is more popular than most other housemates, except for Miracle and probably Tobi. She has more followers on her social media space than her peers and now rolls with Chioma in a private jet.

So! You see! behaviours are neither wrong nor right. Rather, they are either functional or dysfunctional depending on the circumstance.
